Don't Grow Weary

Galatians 6:9 says 'let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.' There are several characteristics that become exposed when one becomes weary.
1. When one becomes weary he or she becomes impatient. It gets harder to wait when you have seen a vision of what will be your future. It gets harder to wait when you see others being blessed and living out their destiny. It gets harder to wait when your current situation doesn't match your promise.
2. When one becomes weary he or she becomes dissatisfied. This is a time when your spouse never does anything right. This is when you become very short tempered with your kids. This is when you look for a confrontation with co-workers.Truthfully, its not any of those people's fault.Because of your dissatisfaction with life; its hard for you to be pleased with anything anybody does.
3. When one becomes weary he or she becomes disappointed. You become disappointed that your life didn't turn out the way you wanted it to.You are disappointed that you are not living the way you dreamed you would. You are disappointed that you aren't the success you thought you'd be.You are disappointed (possibly) that you didn't marry the one you wanted to.
4. When one becomes weary, he or she is susceptible to temptation. When you are impatient, dissatisfied, and disappointed, you can easily fall for temptation. If your marriage is dissatisfying, temptation will come in the form of an old flame. All of a sudden you get an email or facebook friend request from an old boyfriend or girlfriend. That is not coincidence, that is temptation. If you start having conversations that start with 'do you remember when' with old flames, temptation is knocking. If you find yourself laughing and then ending the laugh with a long sigh, temptation is knocking.Weariness can cause you to consider the temptation, which ultimately leads to more problems.
That is why Galatians says don't GROW weary while doing good. We actually grow in weariness. That means we may start with a small amount of weariness; but left unchecked, that weariness can grow in our lives.
DON'T GROW WEARY!

It Is Time To Fight!

Matthew 11:12 says 'And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force' (NKJV). It's time for the believer to start fighting back. The believer is being assaulted on all fronts and it appears as if the enemy is winning. The enemy is assaulting our belief in marriage with divorce rates running rampant, even in the church. The enemy is assaulting our belief in the sanctity of marriage between 1 man and 1 woman with homosexuals wanting to be married. The enemy is assaulting our belief in prayer with school systems and local governments wanting to remove prayer from society. The enemy is assaulting our belief in GOD with the desire to remove In GOD We Trust and the Ten Commandments from government owned buildings. With all the assaults on our beliefs, we as believers should be fighting back. It appears as if we are either too afraid to fight back or too fearful of what the outcome may be. The Bible says 'no weapon formed against us shall prosper' (Isaiah 54:17). So knowing that no weapon will prosper against us, we should stand ready to fight for GOD, fight for our beliefs, and fight for what GOD says is right. It Is Time To Fight!

Now That The Party Is Over!

Now that the celebrations have ended, it is time now to go to work. This isn't just a call to our new president. This is a call to all of us. We all experienced a euphoric moment on yesterday. We all witnessed what was believed to be a somewhat unable goal as recent as a decade ago. We all were able to participate, in some form or fashion, the making of a very historic moment. Let us not succumb to an emotional hangover, though. There are a lot of issues that must be addressed. There are a lot of ills that need to be made well. We are all responsible to ensure that we do our part, in our communities, in our schools, in our homes. To those of us in the African-American community, I say this. Yes, this was a momentous moment for our race; but President Obama is not just our president. He is the president of these United States. We must know that his foremost concern is the well-being of this country; not just the problems we may experience in this country. We cannot expect the president to solve all that ills the African-American community. That job is really left to us. What President Obama can do is what he already has done. That is, provide the African-American community an example of how to conduct oneself. Let him be the example of how to pursue a higher education. Let him be the example of how to reach out beyond color and race. Let him be the example of how to dress appropriately. He has done his part, let us now do ours.
